Little Brother Board

92.00

The little brother of the ambrosia serving board, this little guy was cut from the same piece, with a slightly shorter handle and shorter board surface.

The colourful streaking patterns in ambrosia maple are the marks of ambrosia beetles, who have a symbiotic relationship with fungi. They dig tunnels into dying trees and use them as the growing medium for cultivating fungal gardens. After they have harvested their crop and moved on to other trees, the marks and furrows in their abandoned fields remain. Amazing!

The wood used for this board had small holes left by drilling beetles. These have been filled with small round pieces of wood but are still visible if you look closely!

Board measures 13" long including handle and 6" wide. This listing is for the smaller, top board in second photo.
